HBC Youth Centre

Empowering youth through healthy experiences

The Hibiscus Coast Youth Centre is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to empower and strengthen youth and their families by providing comprehensive youth development through:

  • Education and Youth Development Programs
  • Physically challenging activities
  • Employment and training advocacy
  • And other support services.

The HBC Youth Centre was established in 1997, thanks to the hard work of local business owner Keith Morris and the community. Our staff has evolved over the past 18 years with a team and facilities in place that is second to none.

The location and facilities are extraordinary

All our staff are suitably trained to supervise our range of activities and use professional gear and safety equipment.

Inside we have a 4m High Swing, Indoor Rock Wall and Trapeze. Outside we have an 8m Abseiling Tower and 13m Climbing Pole. Right next to the Centre is the Orewa Estuary where we can take your children kayaking, and the Orewa skate park. We also have an indoor skate park and basketball court.

A safe space to hang out

We offer youth a fun relaxed place to come and hang out. Our café is a ‘Well Safe’ project that offers your child the opportunity to get out, be themselves and hang with friends while being in a safe and fun supervised environment.

With free WiFi, Gaming, a big LCD screen, and music, they are free to do whatever they feel like doing. We also have hot chips, nuggets, and drinks for sale, with free food on hand. And it doesn’t even cost anything!

Every Friday night we hold “CHILL”. This is a group dedicated to providing fun activities, like rock climbing, excursions, and games, for youth aged 13 – 17 years. It’s a safe space to escape home for a few hours – a place to forget about worries.

The Youth Chill Café is open from:
  • 3:30pm till 6pm Monday to Thursday
  • 3:30pm till 6:30pm Friday
  • 1.00pm till 6.00pm Saturday with late nights once a month.

After school care

We offer a MSD & OSCAR approved after school care programme which is eligible for WINZ subsidies.

After school care is available for children aged 5 – 13 years between the hours of 2.45pm – 6pm. Primary school children may be collected directly from the following Primary Schools:

Orewa North Primary School
Orewa Beach Primary School
Red Beach School
Silverdale School
Kingsway College

Children who attend Orewa College walk to the centre as we are within easy walking distance to the College and Whangaparaoa College bus to the centre.

Holiday programmes

Our holiday programmes are designed to keep your child busy and active with a wide range of activities offered, including fund trips around Auckland.

These programmes are available during the school holidays from 8am to 6pm with a minimum daily booking of 9am – 3pm to accommodate the activity schedule. Casual bookings are available.

Due to popular demand, bookings are essential, and we recommend you book promptly. As our programmes are MSD and OSCAR approved, WINZ subsidies are available.

Our activities change each school holidays so be sure to check what is on offer during the next school holidays.

We believe that Children are ‘our’ future leaders and with the right support and healthy experiences anything is possible. If you have any questions about our services please feel free to contact us at [email protected]
