Northern Arena is New Zealand’s fastest growing swim school and New Zealand’s Swim School of the Year 2012,2013, 2014, 2015,2016 awarded by New Zealand Swim Coaches and Teachers Association (NZSCTA).

A fun and relaxed environment, Northern Arena is designed for the comfort of everyone from babies to adults.

Swim instructors are highly trained, accomplished and passionate about swimming and providing life skills. They have swimming in their blood, are unrivaled in their expertise and regularly up-skilled, enabling them to deliver the most up to date techniques and a high level of teaching for your child.

Small class sizes and lessons to suit your child

Northern Arena has four cutting edge swimming pools, each purpose-built for learning to swim and supporting your child’s swimming progress. They are indoor and heated, in a safe and warm environment. Class sizes are small which means your child will receive individual tuition. Lessons are set by ability rather than age – before becoming a swim school member, your child will have a 5-10 minute swim assessment to ensure they begin swimming at the correct level.

Our lessons are specifically designed to be fun and to build your child’s confidence, development and safety in and around water.

Our instructors understand that your child may be reluctant to get in the water and that this can take time and patience – they are skilled in building a rapport with children and gaining their trust.

Encouraging and enthusiastic, the swim teachers will support your child’s development, making the lessons fun but constantly challenging.

The progressive swimming model will allow your child to move to the next level as soon as they are ready and have met the criteria.

Low levels of chlorine

All of our swimming pools are treated by ultra violet light in a manner similar to the way drinking water is treated, which allows for extremely low levels of chlorine. This is much easier on your child’s skin and hair and you will barely notice any lingering chlorine smell after swimming in our pools.

Spacious and easy access

People with disabilities are catered for with our spacious changing rooms and showers and pools are set flush with the floor for easy access.

Shallow depths

The swimming pools are relatively shallow – the progressive depths range from 0.7-1.1 metres, enhancing safety for your child, whatever their age.

Integrated learning aids and spongy floor.

The beginner breather swimming pool and the child and caregivers’ swimming pool (for toddler and baby swimming) have a slightly warmer temperature so your child will stay warm and comfortable.

These swimming pools also have extra spongy floors, an integrated step/seat and integrated learning aids to support teaching.

Located in Silverdale, just 20 minutes’ drive from the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

Northern Arena has everything to entertain the family, including a café and supervised play area. Learning how to swim and survive is a key life skill.
