About Us

West Wave has been an integral part of West Auckland ever since its opening some 25 years ago. We are a community based facility that strives to cater for all ages and abilities. We’re sure that there is something here for your needs and we cater for the full spectrum from babies through to adults. Your child can experience gymnastics, have a swimming lesson, enjoy playing in the pools, build confidence and physical skills.

Learn to Swim Program

Learning to swim is an essential life skill and a fun way for everyone to feel safer in and around water. We offer an affordable Learn to Swim programme with small class sizes and lessons to suit all ages and abilities. All our swim school instructors hold either the AUSTSWIM or Swimming New Zealand ASTA qualification, so you can relax and enjoy the experience, knowing there in great hands.

Terms range from 9 to 11 weeks over the course of the year with one class per week. No lessons are run on public holidays.

School Holiday Programme

Sign your kids up to our next school holiday programme and relax, knowing that they’re safe, happy, and having a blast with their peers and our trained staff! Our school holiday programmes feature a range of activities, from pool days to sports, baking and educational trips to places like Butterfly Creek, and are highly affordable. Complementary pre-care and after-care is also available.

Physical environment

West Wave has 9 separate pools, 3 fitness spaces, and a recreation hall and is the largest facility in Auckland. There is a large car park with overflow parking next to us at Falls Park. The facility is on level ground with wide corridors for easy access, along with a lift to the second floor.

We welcome everyone regardless of ability, with disabled access to the hydro pool via ramp access and the main pool and adult spa pool via hoist. Water wheelchairs are available. There is also disabled access to the fitness centre, swim school and recreation hall.
