Artz On Show – East Auckland – Howick College

About Us

Artz on Show Ltd is a Performing Artz Company, established by Hayley Govorko (nee Buttimore) and based in Auckland, New Zealand. The company provide Workshops throughout every set of school holidays for children aged 5 -15years.

There are professional facilitators on board at all times throughout every Workshop, but Artz on Show is also focused on fostering the arts within New Zealand and so try to hire facilitators that are training or studying also, to give them work experience.

The background for Artz on Show came from a passion Hayley has always had for the Arts. This was apparent at the age of 4 years, when she attended her first ballet class. Hayley is now a qualified dance teacher. She has the ability to teach numerous styles of dance and has travelled throughout Australasia and the United States competing and choreographing.

Hayley identified the gap in the school holiday market, through another theatre organisation. Through this experience she set about creating a company that could offer students an exciting but intense Workshop regime to build the confidence that all young students require and to encourage them to participate in all facets of the arts. Stephanie is our Workshop Coordinator and has moved into this position after working as a Dance Tutor for 5 years. Demand for Workshops is growing rapidly, and the focus is now on the bigger picture, planning School Holiday Workshops not only in Auckland, Hamilton and Franklin but throughout the country!

Artz on Show is a Performing Arts Workshop!

During the school holidays we provide educational, yet fun classes which focus on developing a range of skills across the Performing Arts sector. Building confidence and self – esteem, every child has their opportunity to shine on the stage and is given a speaking part to perform in our show, while also learning choreography to multiple dances, all in one week! Children are grouped by age and we find they often build long lasting friendships from attending our Workshops.

Artz on Show has core disciplines every Workshop each student has the chance to participate in. We also like to introduce specialist activities according to a Workshop theme which can be anything from face painting, modelling and nutrition to cartooning, ballroom dancing and many more!

Drama

Students are involved with developing the final show on Friday. During their drama class the students are able to audition for parts in the show, learn about the theme and the script, receive a part in the play and develop their characters gesture, speech and action on stage.

Theatre Arts

The Theatre Arts class gives students the opportunity to delve deeper into drama and develop their skills. Students will have the opportunity to experience a range of drama techniques including, theatre sports, mime, characterisation, readers theatre, and many more.

Art

This discipline covers photography, painting, sculpture, face painting, stage props and stage makeup. Students are involved in a range of Art activities which change with each Workshop and are related to the Theme.

Dance

Each student will be involved in learning multiple dance styles throughout the weeklong Workshop, including: Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Rock n Roll, Line dancing and Contemporary dance. Groups will be assigned themed songs appropriate to their age and will learn routines to perform at the final performance.

Presentation

This discipline covers Modelling, Deportment and Nutrition. Each student will be involved in all areas of the discipline and learn when, why, who, how and where each area is important for personal development.

Vocals

All students on enrolment to the Workshop will receive a folder of songs. These songs will be in keeping with the theme of each Workshop and our vocals tutor will teach all students breathing, harmonies and
vocal techniques.

Team Building

Students are involved in a range of different team building activities and learn to solve problems by working as one unit.

We also try to incorporate individual team building challenges at times which students participate in such as Archery and Rock climbing, which students love! The type of activity we provide is different from Workshop to Workshop.

The emphasis of working as a team is also incorporated into all other disciplines throughout the Workshop and helps to improve Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem.

“My daughter is excited every single day and you know what, she even forgets to say bye mum. The default option for my daughter during school holidays is to attend Artz on show. She has done 2 workshops so far and loves to learn new activities and make new friends. Her interest and confidence level are growing every time. Putting up a great show, every child gets a chance to perform and happy parents-Special credits to Hayley and team.”

“Our three girls absolutely love Artz on Show. It is their first choice for school holiday activities, and they have all grown so much from the experience. I love the emphasis on improvement, building confidence and helping kids shine across all ages and ability levels. It is lovely to see all age groups working together – the younger ones have something to aspire to and the older ones can take on leadership roles. The programme is very professionally run and it is amazing to see what the children achieve in one week. Well done on creating a fantastic business that has such a positive effect on the community.”

“The one thing that I would like to say is that I have noticed how Elliot has grown in confidence to speak to many people. He has developed a quirky way of presenting himself and even his drama teacher at school has commented on this. Artz on Show is the only extra mural activity which he insists on participating in and proudly displays his photos of all the workshops which he has attended over the years. Every time a workshop has ended, he moans about how many weeks he must wait until the next workshop and ‘wishes away’ the 11 or so weeks. He also enjoys the friendships which he has developed.Thank you for providing these wonderful activities for our young children.”

“Our children have attended Artz on Show consistently over the last 9 years. The program is very high quality, high energy and professional. They look forward to attending each school holidays. I would recommend Artz on Show to anyone considering a quality school holiday program which will leave your children motivated and with improved confidence.”
