About Us

Kiwikidz has serviced families’ childcare needs in the Rodney, West and North Shore areas for many years now. We provide a professional service with qualified and experienced staff. Our main goal is to support our families and children to have the best start to life and be well prepared for their transition to school.

We are a team of passionate teachers and educarers with a real passion for giving our children the best opportunities and keeping their home language alive in their education. Our Educarers come from a variety of backgrounds with some having Early Childhood Qualifications and many years of experience. Each person will bring a different element with them that will enhance your child’s learning experience.

All our Educarers are safety checked and have their first aid qualification which is updated regularly.

Educarers work closely with and are supported by professional Coordinators/Visiting Teacher who are all qualified and come with a variety of experience and backgrounds. Once a month the programme coordinator/visiting teacher will visit your child in their Educarers home to do observations and learning stories of their development and learning progress. In discussion with your child’s educarer and yourselves we will develop an Individual Learning Plan.

Our Admin Staff are very friendly, efficient and are happy to help with any of your administration needs. We are a close team that work together with the same focus being “the child is the heart of the matter”.

How you help children
On a typical day with our Educarers your child will experience:
  • Art activities
  • Trips to the local library, music groups, parks, beaches, playgroups, nature walks
  • Outdoor play, sand play, water play, messy play, dramatic play, bikes, playdough etc
  • Stories, puppet shows
  • Sleep if required, lunch, morning tea (families provide lunchboxes), nappy changing, toilet training
  • Organised trips such as the fire station, sheep world etc
  • Observations on your child and their learning
  • Learning stories
  • Daily progress updates
  • Large and small social situations
  • Great healthy relationships

Physical environment

Our Educarers provide a safe home away from home environment in their own homes in their local areas. Some of our Educarers will have a pick up and drop off option if this helps you and your family’s situation. They have an open-door policy where you can drop in and stay with your child when settling them in or just want to hang out with them to discuss anything. All homes are health and safety checked before our Educarers start with Kiwikidz and then again checked on a regular basis. All children are in regulation car seats whenever they are driven in cars. Their cars are also regularly checked with WOF and registration a requirement.

Our playgroups are held at hired premises with enough resources to extend your children’s learning and provide mentoring to our Educarers.

We also have our community as our playground with any trips being risk assessed first for the upmost safety of your children.

Atmosphere

Here at Kiwikidz we have an open-door policy when it comes to communication. We want you to feel like you are part of our extended family. It is important to us that we work together to support the most precious people in your life. As part of this family and team we have built at Kiwikidz we like to provide many opportunities for you to experience a variety of activities with your children and meet other families. No question is a silly question and all our staff endeavour to answer them all or help you solve any concerns you may have especially when it comes to your child’s wellbeing and education. We have other forms of communication also which we hope will make this open-door policy easy for you.

Our Educarers love having you and your children become part of their family and many will develop lifelong friendships through this journey you will have together.

We can’t wait to meet you and start sharing your child’s learning experience.

“Okay so I’ve tried both centres and home care and home care wins hands down. The carers and their family become an extension of your family and you build a very personal relationship. Not many can say they get offered coffee at pick up time either haha. Both my kiwikidz educators have never given me doubt to ever feel like my kids aren’t looked after. I recommend Amanda Crawford and Robyn Pennings 1000× over. I will never change to a centre as the love fun laughing happiness and learning that goes on in my carers house will always be more than enough for my babies. I couldn’t be happier ????????????”
Charley

“My granddaughter goes to Homebased with Robyn Pennings. What has impressed me is how everyone has supported us and really look after all the kids. You build a great relationship, both Pip (the coordinator) and Robyn (our Educarer) keep us well informed and we really enjoy the photos as well. Great people, great organization. You do a great job thank you so much.”
Micheal

“I enjoy the lasting friendships I make with my parents and the love of the children ❤. I have regular contact with my parents/friends whos children are now at college /school and I get to see the children grow and mature into young adults.”
Leeann Darch – Educarer (May 2017)

“Amanda is literally my children’s other mum as when Im not in holidays they see her more than they see me. That does play on my mind at times but is made better knowing that where they are they are loved and cared for just as much as I do. It makes me happy to see how much fun these ladies also have when preparing stuff and upskilling for our children.”
