Lifeline Aotearoa

About Us

Lifeline has been helping people in crisis since 1964. Calls are answered by qualified counsellors and trained volunteers.

All volunteers on our community helplines undergo world class counselling training and supervision, providing a caring and professional service to a wide range of people in need.

Dealing with thoughts and feelings all by yourself can make the hard times more difficult and sometimes the toughest thing is talking about them. That’s where Lifeline can help.

Making callers feel welcome and safe

Our helplines are confidential and non-judgemental. We listen carefully and treat callers with respect. We will help explore some options about what can be done next and always try to make callers stay safe.

Support the work we do

Lifeline’s free, 24/7 helplines receive no funding, and reply on public donations to continue to provide its free services. To support Lifeline’s work by making a donation go to www.lifeline.org.nz.
