About Love of Learning

Angela Neville – Director

B.Ed, PGDipEd (EdPsych), SPELD NZ Teacher and Assessor

Certified Feuerstein Mediator – Standard, Tactile and Basic programmes

Level C Registered Assessor (NZCER)

I have been a qualified, registered teacher for over 17 years and have enjoyed teaching in several different schools around Auckland, working with students of all ages. My interest in working in this area stemmed from my son who has received some excellent support for his dyslexia from SPELD NZ.

I am currently studying post graduate Educational Psychology at Massey University to further my broad knowledge of students’ learning and behaviour.

Assessment

I conduct Cognitive and Educational Assessments using the Woodcock Johnson IV (WJ-IV) Tests of Cognitive Abilities, Oral Langauge and Achievement to provide a full comprehensive report on your child’s learning strengths and weaknessess and determine whether a Specific Learning Disability is present. For high school students, a WJ-IV report can often assist with applications for Special Assessment Conditions (SACs) for NCEA assessments.

Your child can achieve success in their learning!

Whether it is tertiary study, learning at secondary or primary school level, or even pre-school, I can help. I have a special interest in helping children who learn differently.

If your child needs extra assistance in a particular area or extension work as a critical thinker, or both, I can help. My goal is to enhance your child’s learning by assessing their individual strengths and difficulties, thereby determining their potential to learn.

I then enjoy implementing an individual education programme for your child which provides fun, interesting, educational activities to cater for these individual needs.

Professional development courses for teachers, teacher aides and other education staff can also be provided.

I also privately tutor children who have English as their second language, or those who wish to improve their abilities in Mathematics, English or other curriculum subjects.

Location

Tuition or assessment can take place in my home at Hatfields Beach, at the Indigo office in Totara Vale (Glenfield), or I can travel to your home or school – I also conduct lessons by Skype for those living out of Auckland, or can travel out of Auckland to conduct Cognitive and Educational Assessments – whatever suits you best!

Angela is a nice teacher, I like that there are not many children in my group and my friends do it too. She helps my brain to learn to read so that I can read my minecraft books by myself. I like the interesting activities and we play games a lot too.
Adam (aged 8 years old).

Angela has helped both of my children to gain confidence in themselves and helped them to learn to read and write through activities that open the mind to learning. The groups are small, purposeful and tailored to their individual needs. She is patient and reliable and both of my children really enjoy the three sessions per week that they attend. Angela is very knowledgeable, experienced and good at what she does with great ideas that extend them at home too. I highly recommend this program with its fun activities that are based on theories to develop their cognitive skills necessary to assist children that are having trouble learning, reading and writing.

My daughter in Japan has a Skype lesson with Mrs Neville once a week to study English and GCSE Biology. She enjoys her one hour lessons, which are well prepared and have been really helpful!

I received great feedback from the teacher aides, they felt it was a great sounding board for them to discuss their challenges in working with students with learning and behaviour difficulties. Thanks for the resources, much appreciated.
