The University of Auckland Clinics

The University of Auckland Clinics

About Us

Our services are provided by students who are undertaking degree programmes in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and Faculty of Science. Students are always supervised by experienced clinical supervisors who are academic members of the Faculties. The clinics are supported by a customer service team which liaises with clients to book appointments and provide administrative support.

An Independent Practice of a High Standard

We are an independent practice and hearing aids, spectacle frames, lenses and contact lenses are sourced from a variety of suppliers.

This enables the clinicians and students to recommend options for products that will meet the client’s assessed needs at a variety of price points. We integrate the latest research findings into the services we provide to you so you can be assured they are of a high standard and are effective.

We work with clients to ensure they can access any financial support they are eligible for, for example the enable subsidy for comprehensive eye examinations and spectacles.

Our Approach

All of our clinics have a child-centred and family orientated approach. Each clinic uses specific assessments and treatments for children which will be discussed with you before and during your visit.

Interpreters can be arranged if required, funding may be applicable, if not costs are at the client’s expense. Come along and visit our campuses!

Tamaki Innovation Campus

All of our Clinics are based at Tamaki Innovation Campus in Glen Innes. Free and easy parking is available opposite the clinic. There is a play room in the reception area where the siblings of the children, care-givers and parents can wait while the child goes to their appointment. Parents are encouraged to accompany the child during their appointments. The free play environment enables the speech-language therapists and their students to observe the child this helps with their assessment.

We offer free hearing tests for children on Mondays. Children must be aged between 6 months and 4 years 11 months. If you are happy to volunteer your child or know of someone who may appreciate a free hearing test for their child, we’d love to hear from you!

Grafton Campus

As well as the Tamaki Innovation Campus, the Optometry Clinic is also provided from the Medical School at the Grafton Campus-on the 3rd floor. There is limited free parking available on site and we recommend a car park is booked when you make your appointment. Parking is otherwise available at the Domain or at Auckland City Hospital across the road.

Facilities are access-friendly for those with disabilities and mobility challenges. Guide dogs are welcome. Equipment is modern and well maintained. Resources are child-appropriate.

A Welcoming Environment

Students are particularly keen to welcome children into our clinics.

This helps students gain the experience they need to graduate and become work-ready. In return, the children receive excellent care and services whilst helping the student learn.

We offer a professional, friendly approach to working with children and their family and whanau.
