The University of Auckland Optometry Clinic

The University of Auckland Optometry Clinic

About Us

Our services are provided by students who are undertaking degree programmes in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and Faculty of Science. Students are always supervised by experienced clinical supervisors who are academic members of the Faculties. The clinics are supported by a customer service team which liaises with clients to book appointments and provide administrative support.

An Independent Practice of a High Standard

We are an independent practice and hearing aids, spectacle frames, lenses and contact lenses are sourced from a variety of suppliers.

This enables the clinicians and students to recommend options for products that will meet the client’s assessed needs at a variety of price points. We integrate the latest research findings into the services we provide to you so you can be assured they are of a high standard and are effective.

We work with clients to ensure they can access any financial support they are eligible for, for example the enable subsidy for comprehensive eye examinations and spectacles.

Our Approach

All of our clinics have a child-centred and family orientated approach. Each clinic uses specific assessments and treatments for children which will be discussed with you before and during your visit.

Interpreters can be arranged if required, funding may be applicable, if not costs are at the client’s expense. Come along and visit our campuses!

Grafton Campus

The University of Auckland Clinics are predominately based at the Grafton Campus. This campus holds the Hearing and Tinnitus, Nutrition and Dietetic, Speech Language Therapy and Optometry Clinics. Our Health and Rehabilitation Clinic is located nearby in the Newmarket Campus. Facilities are access-friendly for those with disabilities and mobility challenges. Guide dogs are welcome. Equipment is modern and well maintained. Resources are child-appropriate.

A Welcoming Environment

Students are particularly keen to welcome children into our clinics.

This helps students gain the experience they need to graduate and become work-ready. In return, the children receive excellent care and services whilst helping the student learn.

We offer a professional, friendly approach to working with children and their family and whanau.
