About Us
Topcare founder, Jackie Hui has over 20 years of international experience in early childhood education. She studied for the Diploma of Early Childhood Education at the Manukau Institute of Technology and later graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Auckland.
In 2008, she opened the first of the Topcare Early Childhood Learning Centres, which has been highly successful with parents and shortlisted for several awards.
Her educational philosophy is founded on the strength of the relationships between the children, parents and staff built on Trust, Security, Respect, Caring and having fun. Believing that children learn best when the teachers and parents work together and the children are engaged in experiences that are stimulating and interesting.
The Topcare team provide the highest quality of care and education to the children in their care and encourage a lifelong love of learning. The team are made up of fully qualified staff and staff who are in training. They also participate in continuous professional development.
How we help children
At Top Care Early Childhood Learning Centres, we provide a child-centred developmental programme.
The programme of daily activities is based on carefully observing children, evaluating their needs and planning activities from these observations aimed at enhancing individual development.
Children are encouraged to learn at their own unique and individual pace.
Our programmes are regularly evaluated and recognise the guiding principles of Te Whāriki, the early childhood curriculum of the Ministry of Education.
We acknowledge the multicultural heritage of our community, and emphasise non-gender stereotyped behaviour. We recognise that good early childhood education facilitates the development of confidence, independence, and both indoor and outdoor experiences are an integral part of our programme.
Our educational programmes are designed to stimulate your child and prepare them for a wonderful life founded on a love of learning, so that they move on to ‘big’ school as confident, competent young people.
Our mission is for Topcare preschool children to acquire lifelong skills and grow up as competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge, that they can make a valued contribution to society.
Atmosphere
Our centres have a calm, settled tone and you’ll find an atmosphere that is warm, accepting and welcoming to both children and their families.
Our Topcare preschool children are happy and engaged in their learning and enjoy good conversations with each other and with teachers. They are well supported by well-qualified, caring preschool teachers, who use skilful questioning to promote children’s emerging interests.
Relationships between our teachers, children and families are warm, respectful and inclusive. All our preschool parents are well informed and engage in our preschool centres’ self-review process. Preschool Staff model social responsibility by involving children in several community initiatives.
Physical environment
We have two centres. One at Evelyn Street, Papatoetoe and one in Portage Road, Papatoetoe. Both have good parking for drop off and pickups.
