Growing Through Grief – Eastland

Growing Through Grief is a social service of the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu, providing programmes in the areas of change, loss, and grief.

Our educational programmes provide a chance to explore the effects of change, loss and grief on all aspects of a person – emotional, social, cognitive and spiritual.

Participants learn new ways to adjust and build resilience and wellbeing.

We promote grief education as a key in improving mental health.

Children/Young People Programmes:

Run termly, once a week for 1 hour, for 8 or 9 weeks.

These are run either in some schools or in afterschool locations.

Adult Programmes:

Exploring the Seasons of Grief

Run at various times of the year, 4 sessions, 2.5 hours per session.

Parent/Whānau Workshops:

Supporting your child following the death of someone they love

Supporting your child following a separation or divorce

Run at various times in the year, 1-2 sessions, 2.5 hours per session.

Professional Development Seminar:

Understanding Change, Loss, and Grief

Run at various times in the year, 3.5-hour seminar.

Life Threatening Illness (LTI) program:

A four-session peer support program for children and young people who are living in a family of someone who is unwell.

Run at various times either in school or afterschool locations.

All programmes/workshops/seminars have an enrolment process.

Locations: Tauranga, Te Puke, Ōpōtiki, Whakatāne, Rotorua, Taupō, Tairāwhiti, Hawke’s Bay, Central Hawke’s Bay, Tararua.

Volunteering Opportunities:

Training is offered to suitable people who may like to become volunteer facilitators.
