Tomatis®

How Maria Moell Lundqvist can help

Maria is passionate about Tomatis®. She has been teaching, talking about, working with, using, and spreading the word about Tomatis® for more than 20 years. As a Tomatis® Senior Consultant Level 4 since 1998, Maria is one of only 9 licensed Tomatis® International Trainers (Tomatis® Method teachers) worldwide.

She believes that Tomatis® has enormous potential in education and knows it will help the mental well-being of children in New Zealand. It made a real difference in her own life, so she is now helping children experience the same improvements for themselves.

Maria helps children with neurodivergent learning needs such as Asperger’s/Autism and ADHD and children with processing issues such as auditory and sensory processing difficulties. She also works with children who have a range of learning, reading and writing, social and emotional needs, as well as physical needs such as speech and co-ordination and motor skills. Maria is based in Parnell in Auckland but can work with clients in other regions including overseas. She can meet in person or via Zoom, Skype, or Facetime.

About The Tomatis® Method:

The Tomatis® Method was invented by Dr Alfred Tomatis (1920-2001). He was a French ear-nose-throat doctor, inventor, and researcher who in the early 1950s created a new educational method based on sound.

The Tomatis® Method uses the natural auditory pathways and the same mechanisms as mother nature to stimulate different centers in the brain.

The Tomatis® Method provides auditory training using music and voice. It re-educates the auditory system to help children with their learning. It is an educational method based on sound and the improvements are long lasting. The Tomatis Method trains your ears by using special equipment with filtered music and headphones. We do a listening test, which will show the frequencies your child can or cannot hear well. The programme will then filter out the frequencies your child can hear well, leaving the ones they have to “learn”.

A typical Tomatis® programme consists of 3 blocks of listening to the Tomatis® sound 40 to 80 minutes per day for 2 to 3 weeks.

A Tomatis® Programme starts with an Initial Assessment with a licenced Tomatis® Practitioner. However, before the assessment, we recommend you attend our free live webinar Auditory Processing and the Tomatis® Method.

We also offer an initial free consultation. This consultation does not replace an assessment but gives you a better understanding of what Tomatis® may do for you and your child.
