Our courses, Raising SENSEational Children, recognises and celebrates Neurodiversity throughout New Zealand and the world in all its forms. Our passion is to cultivate an inclusive, caring, and positive learning environment to ensure that all children can learn in their own way.
We provide practical solutions for parents, teachers, and therapists to teach children/teenagers in a positive, child centred learning environment which enables them to develop emotional self-regulation and in turn, have a healthier, happier life. Your child behaves the way they do for a reason. Armed with the teachings in this course you will gain a better understanding of the underlying challenges your child may be facing and nurture a more positive and communicative relationship with your child along the way.
In New Zealand 25% of school aged children have a developmental delay in cognitive function and social skills. These children may have complex learning challenges, behavioural problems, and emotional and behavioural disorders. Many of these children have received multiple diagnoses such as autism, ADHD, ODD and sensory issues, while some are simply labelled “bad” and left to fall through the cracks.
The current education system shows that systemic use of outdated approaches to controlling behaviours are not addressing the needs of these children, while new research is emerging that supports teaching skills, fostering self-regulation, and building social-emotional intelligence as ways to significantly reduce the impact of these challenging behaviours.
These courses, Raising SENSEational children, will examine current trends and perspectives on behaviour and ask you to examine the beliefs that influence your own response to apparent ‘bad’ behaviour in children.
We want to empower you to have a positive relationship with your children’s challenges, allowing you to move forward with confidence in creating a happier life for your child, and we want you to have fun doing it!
