Progress In Learning book 1

This book provides systematic, cumulative, structured and explicit phonics instruction starting with the single sounds of the alphabet. Free phonics skills checklist available on the Progress In Learning website to see which book is needed. The course progresses through reading 3-lettered words with CVC, incorporates the first 100 high frequency words, pseudo words, sentences, rime chunks, words with initial and final blends. Free, ready-made flashcards and activities may be downloaded from the PIL website.

Progress In Learning book 2

This is a progression from book 1. The course includes the teaching of words with triple blends, consonant digraphs, pseudo words, sentences, final silent -e, vowel digraphs, vowel-modified -r and the next 200 commonly used words. Free, ready-made flashcards and activities may be downloaded from the PIL website.

Progress In Learning book 3

This is a progression from book 2. The course includes the teaching of words with more than one syllable, silent letter words, contraction words, compound words, prefixes, suffixes, prefixes, word endings, syllabification, soft -c- and -g- and sentences incorporating the above.

Wordshark v 5 Computer Software

Wordshark is a high-quality computer program that combines the fun and excitement of bright, multisensory games with the serious task of learning to read and spell. It contains activities which develop visual and auditory processing and intensive practise in a variety of ways. Wordshark provides phonics-based word family lists with pictures and sound and can be individualised with ease. Available as a digital download.

 

Numbershark v 5 Computer Software

Numbershark is a motivating program that uses a wide variety of well-designed games and activities to improve number skills. It can be correlated with the NZ curriculum. Numbershark provides plenty of practise using a visual, multi-sensory approach. Courses can be individualised. Available as a digital download.

 

Touch-Type Read and Spell Course (TTRS)

Winner of the Special Education Resource award 2107, this course provides your child with an advantage in the ever-expanding digital world by giving them the invaluable skill of touch typing. Course content is based on the word lists of ‘Alpha to Omega’ and takes an Orton Gillingham approach to reading instruction. Multisensory, research based, highly structured, modular in design, with multiple levels of difficulty and an adaptive interface.

Wings to Fly journal promotes lifelong health and happiness using 21 images. There is plenty of opportunity for creativity, activity, social interaction, written language, self-expression, discussion, relaxation and personal choice. Tutoring

Individual and small group tutoring is provided for students and is tailored to suit their needs based on assessments and in consultation with the parents. Students are well supported and encouraged to reach their potential. Bi annual progress reports are provided.
