About Nourish Feeding Therapy

Rebecca, the founder and director of Nourish Therapy, and her team of experts work with families to meet the growing need for paediatric feeding therapy services in the Christchurch region. To best support children and whānau with feeding challenges, the team at Nourish Therapy use a range of therapies including occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, child development, neuroscience, trauma impacts and feeding therapy.

Who Nourish Feeding Therapy work with

The team at Nourish Therapy provide specialist in-home feeding support to children, from toddlers to young adolescents, who have challenging eating behaviours, limited and restricted diets, avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (AFRID), sensory feeding challenges, and paediatric feeding disorders. They can also help families and children with feeding needs related to ASD, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay and Sensory Processing Disorders.

How to get started with Nourish Feeding Therapy

Engaging with Rebecca and the team is easy and the whole process is absolutely tailor-made for you and your child’s needs. You will begin with a series of two initial consultations. The first consultation is via telehealth where you will discuss your child’s needs, behaviours and your desired outcomes from the work Nourish Therapy will do. The second consultation is an on-site visit to your home for the therapist to observe a mealtime. From here, specialist one on one therapy begins and continues as often and for as long as your child and family need it. A Multidisciplinary Intensive Feeding Therapy Programme and ongoing phone support are also available to support you as you make the changes recommended by the team.

Approach

Tailoring each therapy to the specific needs of each child and family is at the heart of everything they do at Nourish Therapy. To take the stress out of mealtimes, they tailor their therapy approach to your child’s individual needs. By working together with you as a family, the team at Nourish Therapy identify the underlying delays in feeding skills and design a therapy programme that will best work for you and for your child. In fact, your child and family are so important to the team, they take a whole team approach, that involves your GP, Paediatrician, health professionals, and school or early childhood centre. And best of all, they come to you and work with you and your child in your own home!
