Speech Bubbles

Meet Jo:

Jo, Speech Bubbles founder, comes to speech language therapy with a background in classroom teaching. She has turned her passion for children’s learning and progress into a focus on their speech and language development. Her years of primary school teaching have given her the opportunity to see and understand firsthand the impact that difficulties and delays in children’s speech and language development have on their learning, particularly in engaging with their teacher and fellow classmates, as well as impacting their progress in spelling, reading, and writing.

How speech therapy with Speech Bubbles can help:

Speech Bubbles provide a range of speech and language assessments and interventions to suit your child and your family’s needs. As a first step when working with Speech Bubbles, Jo will undertake an assessment with your child. This can be one of two options. The first option is a one-hour session, where after working with your child, Jo will provide a written summary of your child’s results and some recommended goals to work on. The second option is two 45-minute sessions, after which you will receive a comprehensive report that includes in-depth analysis of the findings from your child’s assessment, along with specific recommendations and goals that your child needs support with.

From there, you can choose between private speech therapy sessions or community-based groups meet-ups. Both options work with your child’s identified needs and goals. These options will be discussed in your initial assessment session/s with Jo.

Where does Speech Bubbles work?

Speech Bubbles know how busy life can be, so Jo is flexible and can work with you wherever it suits you and your child’s needs best. Jo is based on the Hibiscus Coast of Auckland and can work with you and your child in your own home by arrangement. Jo can also work with your child in their pre-school or primary school setting. The community-based group sessions take place in Orewa and Massey.

Speech Bubbles understands:

As a Mum of 4 children herself, Jo understands that all children are different and make progress at their own pace. She has a real empathy for children who need support with their speech and language development and works hard to make sure your child feels safe and comfortable, both during the assessment phase and when undertaking the private speech therapy sessions.

Jo has been working with our 5-year-old son for almost 9 months, she was
quick to form a good bond with him which meant he was excited to attend
Speech Therapy where previously he hadn’t been. The results we have seen
since working with Jo are huge for us and our son, he now has the sounds
he didn’t master in months of speech therapy before working with her. Jo
is really supportive in helping us with other areas that we are also
working to support in him such as learning sight words and food
aversions, her previous experience as a teacher allows her to think
outside the box and come up with ways of doing the work that will keep
our son engaged (positive reinforcement is also a huge part of this). We
have no hesitations in recommending Jo to anyone seeking support for
their child’s speech and language therapy.
